Dem Trailers: The Karate Kid

So he’s learning from Jackie Chan, who’s trained in Kung Fu but the movie is called “The Karate Kid”? Okay. I can sit here and tell you how many ways this film can be the suckiest film ever conceived but the fact of the matter is that I have only the most limited connection to the original film. But it seems like everyone has an opinion when it comes down to remakes of closely held films from the past so please, if you’re a die hard Karate Kid fan, please let us know what you think about the first trailer that shits on pays homage to the original. Is this merely Will Smith wanting his kid to be a star or is Jaden Smith gonna be the next Jim Kelly? Side note, I could of done without the damn Linkin Park song everyone is using on their trailers recently. Please fucking stop this!!

so, i've had a pretty low opinion of this idea, but in seeing the trailer it gave me a little hope. i mean, while they have the same name and basic story, it's not like they're trying to do a shot for shot remake or even a loose remake. it could be enjoyable.

i really like that the mom in the movie is shug from hustle and flow, so i can kind of think that this karate kid is the baby she was pregnant with in that movie (well, discounting the fact that movie came out 4 years ago, which isn't enough time, and that i'm pretty sure the baby was said to be a girl @ the end).

  I found myself not excited but not totally ready to count it out. Jackie Chan can do amazing stuff but then he does shite movies like "The Tuxedo".
  
  Oh and in movie time, anything can happen so it might very well be the same character :)

Man the 1st karate kid was great because it was SO awful. Really?! I'm to believe that Myagi kicked a bunch of 17 yr old Cobra Kai kids around in regular speed with no fancy moves or weapons…come on. Not to mention, the All Valley Amateur Karate Tournament was a complete sell out.. I've been to Clipper games with less people than that viewing audience. I'm just glad to see that it doesn't take pace in Reseda CA, I don't know if I could watch another movie about that shit hole. This might be a decent netflix movie…might be. I say remake all of them, you aren't going to ruin the integrity of the originals.

I haven't cried this hard since Roberto Clemente died. He was an original too.
