Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson sign on for Iron Man 2

rourkeironman2scarletblackwidow-440x268Well this week was a significant one for the upcoming Iron Man sequel as the first pic from the director himself as the set is being built (via Twitter, no less), casting rumors were finally confirmed. After a rocky start for Mickey Rourke working with Marvel Studios, The Wrestler star has finally officially signed on to play the Russian villan (no more explanation than that was given but all signs point to Crimson Dynamo) in the fillm. The other surprise that came from this news was Nikki Finke’s scoop that Scarlett Johansson was also tapped to replace Emily Blunt, the previous front runner, as the Black Widow after Fox excercised an option with the actress. As much of a fan of Ms. Johansson I be (my future ex-wife stopped returning my stalker calls a long time ago), I think Emily Blunt would have been a better actress for the role of Black Widow but I guess I’ll just have to find it in my nerdy heart to let Scarlett slide on this one. What do you think about these lastest rounds of casting? With Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mickey Rourke & Scarlett Johansson, will Iron Man 2 become too celebrity heavy and lose the luster of the first go around? [photos jacked fom Slash Film]

  1. Great Iron Man update. Buuut, I have been waiting a couple days for Dumb Drum to give me a rundown of the rumors about the live action Star Wars TV series. I refuse to go elsewhere on the internets to read about it. I want a DumbDrum style update.

    1. I’ve read the latest but they don’t seem very significant….yet. But I, too, sense that pretty soon we will have an explosion of information and then we’ll give it a proper post. Thanks for the support, sir!

  2. Thank you, Darth Geekious. I just heard a blurb about the series being casted right now but didn’t research it. I will be shooting beer and refreshing DumbDrum every two minutes until the post is written…. or until I die.
