Fresno Foto Friday #10

I snapped this photo during Rev Fest. It’s a cool little sliver of a space at the bottom of the Helm Building. I really dig the archway and the gate. It got me wondering what kind of business might have been here in the past, what kind of place might exist there in the future.

This was the original home of the Warner Company Jewelers.

Cool. I figured it was some kind of jewelry store from the front window display case. Do you know when it closed?

It’s in the Helm Building, Fulton Mall at Mariposa. They closed that store in 1988 according to the Bee, the same year Gottschalks left, Penneys two years before that. The bottom really fell out of downtown in the 80′s.
