Dumb Drum’s Avengers swede assembles on Attack Of The Show

by brodiemashOct 20th, 2011Comments (3)

Hey, our swede is on Attack Of The Show tonight! No Olivia Munn?! Ah, c’mon! And although we took the (SPOILER) number 2 spot, I’m still a little upset that Michael Winslow beat us. If anything, that Beyonce video should have been the one because that shit was HILARIOUS! BTW, if you want to go straight to our segment, it begins at the 5:25 mark. BANANAS!

Random Goodness: Pitt-Pong

I know I’m not right in the head but I watched this clip the entire way through, which left me a sobby mess at my computer chair. Brad needs to take a few lesson from this guy about jumping over cars, perhaps. Side note: The only thing I remember from “Meet Joe Black” is this scene and I’m not sure if they wanted to make it clear that the dude was dead but it came off as WAY to comical and I was never able to totally recover from this scene. A tad childish, perhaps but whaddaya gonna do.

Dem Trailers: The Avengers

Goose bumps, that’s all I can say. With some decent looking action and an awesome exchange between Cap & Tony Stark, Joss Whedon has cemented my purchase of multiple tickets to see this next May. Goddamn, I’m so excited. And see it in HD over on Apple here for the best look at the footage. Next year is gonna be awesome for film lovers, no doubt.

Fresno ranks in top 20 on list of video game obsessed cities

by brodiemashOct 6th, 2011Leave a Comment

Another day, another list. It seems in this day and age of infographics and polls, we can’t go two internet hours without seeing Fresno appear on some list. This time, it’s not about bad air or drunkness but rather something that kinda hits close to home: video game spending. Coming in on this list in the number 19 spot (among US cities), Fresnans sure prove that they sure love their video games as they vote with their wallets. I wonder if there’s any correlation between this and obesity? The poll, put on by Bundle, tracked credit card spending at Gamestop, EB Games & Steam to see how much people were spending on gaming, which is now a multi-billion dollar industry, of which I’ve personally contributed a good chunk of change to. I wonder if this poll will serve the naysayers as fodder to continue to shit on Fresno as they have in the past with those aforementioned ones. Hey, at least our brothers up in Modesto are bigger joystick jockeys than us! How do you feel about this? Let us know in the comments!

FUSE Fest happening this weekend, rumors indicate awesomeness

by brodiemashSep 28th, 2011Comments (3)

Our passion here at Dumb Drum are films but seeing that the very name of this blog is derived from some hip-hop lyrics, we’re also big fans of music. And with that, we’re proud to be sponsoring FUSE Fest 2011 which just so happens to be going down Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st. So this weekend, we’d suggest you head to dangerous beautiful downtown Fresno and take in some locally brewed music as well as perhaps visit some new venues you’ve never patronized in our fair city (go here to see a map of all the venues and their locations around downtown). You can catch the entire line-up and set times over here at The Fresnan and after the jump, peep out the video up there that we did to help promote the event for a little FUSE Fest history & info on the event this weekend. Tickets are $20 for a two-day pass, $15 for a single-day pass and if you’re a Creative Fresno member, your two-day pass will cost you $15 when you buy them at Fulton 55. Quite a deal for all the music you’ll be getting, I might say. And on top of that get a chance to see how lively downtown Fresno can get when people come together to celebrate awesome events like this. Hope to see you all out there this weekend. Read more…

Dem Trailers: The Raid

(Red Band Trailer is NSFW) I’ve longed for the return of the John Woo days. I mean the GOOD John Woo days, I’m talking about “The Killer,” “Hard Boiled” and “Bullet In The Head” days. I’ve haven’t come to terms with the fact that these type of movies will never exist again and thanks to “The Raid” from director Gareth Evans, my hope may have a stay of execution. Now this not only has the visceral gun play for a Woo film, it also blends with some of the more recent martial arts films from Tony Jaa. Now I hope those are two tastes that taste great together and from the looks of things (and the early reviews), it seems to work very well. I can’t understate how fucking excited I am to see this kind of film returning to us. Also: fuck John Woo. I love you, but I hate you. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think in the comments below.
