Dem Reviews: Rubber

by Famous WhitewaterJul 25th, 2011Leave a Comment

“Rubber” is one weird-ass film. From the moment Lieutenant Chad, played by Stephen Spinella, crawls feet first out of a patrol cruiser in the middle of the desert, the film eschews the laws of traditional storytelling (or even rational thought).“Ladies and gentlemen, the film you are about to see today is an homage to the ‘no reason’ that most powerful element of style,” Spinella says. Then he pours a glass of water on the ground and walks away. Which tells you everything you need to know (and absolutely nothing) about what follows. Dem Reviews: Captain America – The First Avenger

by brodiemashJul 21st, 2011Comment (1)

When Joe Johnston was announced as director of “Captain America: The First Avenger” I was immediately skeptical. Sure, he had directed one of my favorite films of all-time in “The Rocketeer” and this film was going to be set around the same time period so what could go wrong? Well, his direction of action sequences were what worried me and because of that, I set my expectations low in this area for the film as I was sure he could weave an exciting thread telling the origin of Steve Rogers transformation in the great icon Captain America. And I’m glad I did because the film performed exactly the way I expected it. And I loved it! Read more…

Random Goodness: Voldemort’s awkward hug

by brodiemashJul 21st, 2011Comments (4)

(SPOILERS if you haven’t seen the last Harry Potter film) Voldemort can be quite creepy sometimes. Sure he kills children and has a busted ass nose but that stuff is nothing compared to the initiation he makes people take when entering his cabal. Right in front of Draco’s parents even! Someone better call Chris Hansen on this creeper. [via Buzzfeed]

UPDATE: Now the actual trailer has been released so no more shaky cam! And get the HD version over here at Yahoo!

Better check it fast because this thing probably won’t be online for much longer. The teaser trailer for Marc Webb‘s webslinger reboot “The Amazing Spider-Man” has leaked online before its slated release. Starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, the film is set to hit theaters in Summer 2012. The video is a little dark, clearly its just some dude shooting a movie screen, but you can make out some badassery nonetheless. Check it out above, if you don’t mind being spoiled, and let us know what you think in the comments!

Enjoy.
