Dumb Drum featured in “We Are Fresno” TV spot
As you probably know, here at Dumb Drum we have no shame when it comes to free publicity. So when KSEE 24 asked us to record a quick promo plugging their “We Are Fresno” series, we were down like the numbers in my bank account. Finally starting to air this week, a few people had mentioned to me that saw it and today I got a nice message from the folks at the station. Ahead of time, I apologize if you’re forced to see our faces grace your giant sets as you wait for “Parks and Recreation” to come back from commercial. Anyways, check it out and please feel free to make fun of us, including any “playground” jokes you may have. Next up, we’re doing a music video with Puff while wearing shiny suits! SIDE NOTE: Bryan should grow his hair back, right?! SIDE NOTE 2: Eye Q, hook a brother up with some Lasik!!
Dem Reviews: Transformers – Dark Of The Moon
In the past couple of days, I fell victim to the hype machine that usually accompanies these tent pole Hollywood blockbuster releases. So much that I even got slightly aroused by the fact that Transformers was being touted as being one of the best examples of the use of 3D and actually looked forward, if ever so slightly, to seeing it in the format that I’ve always loathed. Congrats to Michael Bay and his team for successfully pulling this ruse on me because, well… the movie was not good. Now, what angers me most isn’t the fact the I was duped but rather that it seems like there was a inkling buried deep within this abomination that alluded to what could have been a great movie. Alas, it was not meant to be. Read more…
Dem Trailers: Transformers-Dark Of The Moon
The Michael Bay epic opens up tonight with screenings starting at 9pm so because of the bumped up release date, the good folk at Paramount unleashed this new quickie trailer with a bunch of new footage and a pretty well implemented electronica soundtrack. The early reviews say the film is vastly better than the second one and on par with the first film including a 50-minute action sequence towards the end of the film involving the destruction of Chicago. They even say the 3D is done right by the director Michael Bay but still on the fence about watching it in that format, although the IMAX format might win me over. Turn off your higher brain functions and enjoy some raw action goodness! And if need be, peep out the trailer in HD over here on Apple’s site.
Random Goodness: 29 Ways To Stay Creative
29 WAYS TO STAY CREATIVE from TO-FU on Vimeo.
As a creative, the struggle to remain motivated and inspired is one that will never go away. But it’s that struggle that drives one to continue to drive towards the next goal and conquer whatever obstacle life’s journey throws at you. I ran across this video a few weeks ago and have been meaning to post it here but along the way, there was either never any time or something else was just more important that needed to be completed before I got to this. Finally, I just decided to make time to post this and I’m glad I did because I found the video to be quite inspiring for those times when you just need a swift kick in the ass to get yourself moving forward again. I hope it helps you as much as it helped me.

Swag! Win Great Fresno Tweetup tickets
UPDATE: And the Randomator 300™ has spoken! The winner of the two tix for tonight’s event is @OUTOFSTEPH! Thanks to everyone for participating and don’t forget to come on out this evening and have a good time with some fellow Tweeps! Also, A special someone from this very blog will be singing a special song during the game so as if you needed another reason to head out there, BOOM! Thanks to the Fresno Beehive for putting on this awesome event. For more info, peep this post out!
So you see all these people’s useless banter clogging up your Twitter stream everyday. They tell you about their dinner. They describe in vivid details how they mow their lawn. All the things you need to know so you can go to sleep knowing that you replacing the knowledge of all 50 capitals is gonna be worth it down the road. Well this Thursday, jump out of your stream and jump into the cesspool at the Great Fresno Tweetup going down this Thursday, June 16th starting at 6pm at Chuckchansi Park. Because I’m lazy, here are the deatils from the kind folk at the Fresno Beehive:
WHAT: The third annual Great Fresno Tweetup, a face-to-face meetup for Fresno’s local Twitter community. It includes baseball-watching, networking, games, prizes, cheap beer, possible heckling and, of course, lots of Tweeting,
WHEN: 6 p.m. Thursday, ’til whenever the game is over. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m., but our event starts at 6, which is when $1 Thirsty Thursday beers are available. Not a coincidence.
WHERE: Chukchansi Park, downtown Fresno. At the “Tweetdeck,” our private party deck overlooking left field.
WHY: Because Fresno’s Twitter community is: (a) Awesome, (b) Growing, (c) Full of fun people and (d) Somehow well-behaved enough that we haven’t been 86′d from The Chuk after the previous two Tweetups. Also, word is that Barry Zito of the Giants will be pitching on Thursday, so that’s pretty rad.
HOW: RSVP on Twitter with @fresnogrizzlies to get your special $5 tickets (which include your first $1 beer). Make sure you’re following @fresnobeehive for contests both at the event and leading up to it. Keep an eye on the #GreatFresnoTweetup hashtag to stay current on the all chatter.
Random Goodness: This is why you don’t text or talk in theaters!
… and this is why I love the Alamo Drafthouse chain of movie theaters in Texas. Girl gets kicked out of the theater for texting during the movie, then decides to leave Alamo an angry voicemail message about the situation. Alamo turns around and uses her voicemail as a PSA in their theaters for not texting during films. Genius. This isn’t the first kick ass PSA the Alamo has produced, click here for another. And hey, because of this, I forgive you Alamo Drafthouse for not bringing your rolling roadshow to California this year. Well played.
