New Halo: Reach commercial is the Halo live-action film we need

Back when Neil Bloomkamp did his series of short films for the Halo series, I was never 100% sold that his vision was a perfect fit for the Halo world. Sure, it would have been cool to see the Halo universe through the director’s eyes (especially after seeing his awesome “District 9″) but somehow I kept thinking that this franchise needed something else. After seeing Noam Murro’s commercial for the impending release of Halo: Reach, the next game in the franchise set to release next month, I’m kinda sold on this guy helming a Halo film, if the powers that be ever agree to move forward with that again. Something about the imagery, the color & texture in this commercial lends itself more to tthe source material more so than Bloomkamp’s sterile, albeit awesome, take with his films. What do you think?

Dem Trailers: Catfish

Whatever you do, don’t talk about this movie. That seems to be the common thread in all stories I’ve read about this film ever since it made a splash at Sundance earlier this year and although this trailer seems to have been out for a while, I barely got to it recently. Not really sure what to think of the film from this trailer but damned if I’m not intrigued by the concept of what happens at the conclusion of the film. So what do you think? Is this an internet hype-machine or an engrossing documentary that will truly blow your socks off?

Oh the good old days of pushing women in bikinis around in a shopping cart filled with beer. I blame Obama for taking all of this away. Or is Glenn Beck to blame? I don’t know but someone must pay! [via Buzzfeed]

Sorry about that. That was me banging my head against the keyboard trying to find something good to say about The Last Exorcism.

I’m a fan of horror movies, so when the guys over at the Dumb Drum asked me to check out a screening of the movie, I was more than happy to. I’ve always been interested in the subject of exorcisms, and with Eli Roth‘s name attached to this movie, I had high hopes. Boy, was I wrong. Read more…

Dem Trailers: 127 Hours

It’s just something about trailers that show clips of the director’s previous filmography that bothers me. Sure, Danny Boyle might not be a household name but something about that seems so Mickey Mouse (no offense to Mickey Mouse). But as soon as you pass that intro, you get into the meat of the trailer for Boyle’s next film, which has been getting some pretty positive buzz. I’m kinda rooting for James Franco here as I think he’s got some good acting chops in him and hopefully this could be the film to elevate him to another level. Also, if you haven’t seen Boyle’s “Sunshine” do yourself a favor and see that ASAP! So what do you guys think of the trailer? Leave a comment and let us know!

Like the client told Chow Yun-Fat in “The Killer”: No information, just say ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. That video up there is from a police dash cam which caught a high speed accident that would make Michael Bay very proud. If that’s your thing, by all means click that triangle up there and watch. If not, move along and we’ll hopefully get something up on here a little more to your taste :)
