It’s hammer time! “Thor” Comic Con trailer leaks

by brodiemashJul 29th, 2010Comments (3)

UPDATE: The studio has pulled the video, sorry for the late update. If it shows up again, we’ll be sure to repost it for those of you whpo might have missed it.

Okay, if you want to remain as spoiler free as possible and keep intact your current anticipation for the next superhero film from Marvel Studios, you might want to NOT watch this trailer. Way too long (clocking in at over 5 minutes) the trailer isn’t exactly the best I’ve ever seen and it really did a number on my hype machine for this film… and not in a good way. I mean it’s not all doom & gloom, there were a few parts the shined but overall I came out of that a little disappointed. We’ll just have to wait and see but in the mean time, catch the trailer before it’s pulled by the studio and let us know what do you guys think!

Dem Trailers: Sucker Punch

Zack Snyder’s film “Sucker Punch” has been veiled in mystery ever since it was first announced last year and the first footage screened at Comic Con this last weekend was the first time most people had even heard or seen anything from the project. And for those lucky few who were there to witness it, the reports have been glowing as we had mentioned in our previous post. This teaser trailer has left me salivating for more because… WOW, that shit looked pretty freakin’ cool and it looks even better in HD, which you can get over here at Apple. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Das Überpost: Comic Con 2010 wrap-up

Yeah, we weren’t actually there but there was a plethora of news that came out of San Diego Comic Con this weekend and we felt it was our duty to get you all caught up on some of the bigger news bits that came out of the show. And no, we ain’t talking about crazy, stab happy Harry Potter fans!

• Up until last night, the biggest awesomeness that came out of the con was the reveal of the full Avengers cast on stage. Mark Ruffalo was finally made official as Edward Norton’s replacement for the role of Bruce Banner/Hulk as was long rumored Jeremy Renner coming on board as Clint Barton/Hawkeye.  It was quite the sight to see Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson and the aforementioned two actors on stage. Check out the hi-res pic here on Aintitcoolnews. So that’s untoppable, right? That’s what I thought… until late last night I heard about this: It seems that sometime after the announcement in Hall H, Marvel pulled the covers (only for 5 minutes, no less) off a single movie prop over at their movie booth that exploded my head. That piece was the Infinity Gauntlet. I can spend a vast amount of time babbling GEEK about this but just let me say, if this is a hint of the direction they are thinking about taking the Avengers movie, I can TOTALLY get behind this Joss Whedon production with even more of a nerd boner. Check out video from the event here and a from a different angle here and also peep out the pic of the Infinity Gauntlet after the break. Read more…

Random Goodness: Birth of a lightning bolt

As amazing as this video of a lightning bolt slowed down 300x is, I wish they had also played at real time to really appreciate everything caught in the video. Still, this is the kind of stuff that makes me smile ear to ear and stand stupified at how awesome mother nature really is. Happy Monday, people! [Via Gizmodo]

“Daddy’s Home” opens this weekend at the Crest Theater

by brodiemashJul 23rd, 2010Leave a Comment

Have you ever driven around downtown Fresno and seen some of the old movie theaters that just seem ripe for screening films again like they used to back in the days? Well you’re in luck because über-independent film “Daddy’s Home” opens up this weekend at the Crest Theatre in downtown Fresno. The film has a local connection in Christna Treviño who wrote, produced and stars in the film, spent many of her summers growing up here in the valley. The film is playing July 23rd, 24th and 25th at the Crest Theater and has two screenings each day, 7 pm and again at 9 pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children 13 and under (the film is unrated). Be sure to check out Rick Bentley’s review of the film and head on out and support your local cineplex!

Dem Trailers: Tron Legacy

Here we go… although they are supposedly showing about 10 minutes of footage from the whole film at Comic-Con this week, us regular folk at least get a new trailer to check out I don’t know how else to say it… this movie looks fucking BAD-ASS! Excuse the language and for now, I will “punish” myself for such an indiscretion by viewing the trailer again on mute. So what do you guys think? Will this beat “Inception” for us nerd types as best movie of the year? Let us know! And be sure to check out the HD version of the trailer over here on Yahoo!
