Iron Man 2 teaser poster drops
Yep, there’s not much to say here except I hope you have some tissues around to clean yourself up, fanboys! The rumors is that we’ll be getting a trailer this month as well for the Jon Favreau film but I was trying to figure out what films they would show it n front of. Perhaps Avatar? Sherlock Holmes? Hmmm… who knows. In the mean time, I will dream of seeing War Machine dropping empty shells like sunflower seeds at a baseball game. Check out the full image over at Yahoo! here where the poster just debuted a while ago. I need this as my desktop right now!
Random Goodness: Mini-Van vs. Wrecking Ball
In honor of how my Monday will no doubt hit me with work tomorrow when I return to the office, here’s a little real-life representation of all that business. Hope your week goes well, people!
Zero Punctuation: Modern Warfare 2 review
Everything the fine gentleman from England, by way of Australia, is correct. But that hasn’t stopped me from playing the game incessantly for the past few week. I am a fucking robot and this robot likes his Modern Warfare 2, what can I say. I think I’ll join a frat next while I’m at it. Oh what would my ancestors think if they could see this…
Random Goodness: Lego Matrix
Legos are cool! Wow. I mean, if you look at all the detail they included in this project… just wow. My favorite is that they got Neo kick spinning the gun on the ground after the bullet time because ever since the first time I watch The Matrix, my eye always goes to that in that shot. The guys say they spent over 440 hours on this, which seems excessive and works out to some 5 hours per second but hey, it’s pretty damn cool. After the break, check out the side-by-side comparison of this and the original film to see all they captured and failed to capture. Hit up the official site for more background on the creation of the short. [via Slash Film] Read more…
Video game short film “Turbo” now online
TURBO from Jarrett Lee Conaway on Vimeo.
A while back we brought you the trailer for Turbo, the short film from USC film student Jarrett Conaway and this week the entire film has been put online for everyone to check out. The entire film runs about 23 minutes and it gives us what some people have described as The Karate Kid meets The Wizard. I don’t know about you but if the Power Glove makes an appearance, I’ll be a very happy man. Enjoy!
Flick Picks: because geeks need fantasy football, too.
So this year I jumped into my first fantasy football league and needless to say, I suck. HARD! But I’m still trying to work my way around using advice from friends who actually pay attention to that kind of stuff, sports & whutnot because if Bo Jackson, Jose Canseco or Shaq in an Orlando Magic uniform ain’t in it, I’m probably not watching it. But I feel alienated from those people who do for some reason. So when I read about Flick Picks, I was immediately interested. Basically, it’s a league when you are a theater owner and depending on the movies opening that weekend, you pick which films to screen and when the box office numbers are released at the end, you are rewarded with points. I’m sure it’s a lot more complicated than that but check out the video up there and rejoice that a nerd friendly alternative to sports leagues have arrived! Sign up here at the official site and I’ll see you on there!
Random Goodness: How Twilight should have ended
So some of you out there have already seen New Moon like 17 times (hence the massive box office this weekend) and I have yet to see any of the films. But this new edition of HISHE actually makes me wanna see the first film, if only to compare notes. But for those of you out there who are balls deep (I guess I should say “ovaries deep”) in Twilight mania, I hope you enjoy! And for those of you who are questioning my sanity for posting Twilight stuff, listen to the truth spoken by the great Kevin Smith regarding these fans. Yeah….
Random Goodness: Vampax
New Moon comes out this week. You could of told me that Uwe Boll has a movie coming out this week and I might be more interested in that than New Moon. Not that I’m trashing the series as I have yet to see any of the films or read the books, it’s just not my cup o’ tea. With that, I give you a video that has Superman and the line “He’s hungry for my period” in it. Enjoy, New Mooners! And I hope the movie explodes your insides like neutrinos microwaving the earth’s core!
Dumb Drum presents Fresno Modern Warfare 2 Killathon
SOOOO I finally got my hands on my copy of Modern Warfare 2 this past weekend. As you can see, that has kinda cut into my postin’ here on Dumb Drum. That and I’m just extra lazy all of sudden. It seems that by jumping back into my video game realm, a place I really hadn’t visited for quite some time now, the lethargic side of me has emerged. I guess this means that Kevin Smith-sized pants are in my near future but hopefully I won’t reach that point. But until Bryan organizes an intervention and forces me to have a moment of clarity, lets take advantage of what we got here and hold a Fresno area gathering of readers, Tweets, bloggers and other locals to join us next Tuesday, November 24th starting at 7pm on teh Xbox Live (sorry PS3 owners). So how do you get on? Well first off, leave your gamertag here in the comments or be sure to respond to the invite here via Twitter and lets us know what your gamertags are so we can send you invites. In the mean time, be sure to befriend me on Xbox Live (my gamertag is neobrodiemash) as to make everything go smoother next week. This is the first itme trying this out so if you guys have any suggestions or ideas to make this run smoother, I’m all ears! Not sure how many readers we have that actually participate but we hope to get our virtual murder on. Hope to see some of you online next week! BOOM, HEADSHOT! …please don’t be that guy….
Reminder! Rogue Film applications due this Sunday
So with all the hoopla with Swede Fest last week, we’ve been neglectful to write about the film component of next year’s Rogue Festival. The good news: The deadline for applications was moved back to give you more time. The bad news: the deadline is this Sunday, Nov. 15th. Yeah… so here’s the thing, you don’t need to have your project ready, you just have to submit your app, pay your fee and you’ll have until February next year to get your film done. So that’s the good thing, right? What you need to do is between now and this Sunday is sit down, get your notebook out and draw up a battle plan. Can you make a film by February that you can screen in front of people? You have time to do it but do you have the drive to actually get it done? Well I believe you can, no matter what I’ve heard about you being a flake so decide either way and be sure to get your application in and get rolling on your project! For all the info you need, be sure to go to the official Rogue Festival site over here OR you can just hit up the break and scope out all the info you need to know about the application itself and the fees. Sit down, study it and produce! Please spread the word and lets represent Fresno filmmaking at the Rogue Festival next year! Read more…
Random Goodness: 10 mins. of rally crashes
I don’t like NASCAR. Like not even a little. Sorry, but that’s just how I feel. Rally racing is where it’s at for me. And just like NASCAR, the real reason people watch is for the crashing. So here’s my little weekend gift to you. Sit down, pop a beer or two open and check out some rally goodness!
