If you’ve never listened to an single episode of SModcast, the podcast with director Kevin Smith & his producer Scott Mosier, you’re missing out. Hands down, the best podcast out on the internet and recently a hardcore fan has been putting animation to some of the segments and his latest is a winner. The segment revolves around a shark biting Smith’s leg off and the demand for justice… Aquatic Justice. Yeah, just a small samplin’ of the hijinks that go down on the show. Be sure to check out the podcast over at Quickstop Entertainment here is you haven’t already and keep an eye on the creator’s You Tube account here for future installments.

UPDATE: And the domestic trailer is up!

Although the new domestic trailer for James Cameron’s next film has already been playing in theaters for about a week now, it hasn’t reached the internet yet but it will until around 10am this morning. Can’t wait? Check out this international one in the mean time, which is supposedly pretty much the same thing. We’ll post the updated domestic trailer here later today when it drops. I do have to say, this one already looks 10 times better than the original. Albeit, the storyline is a tad predictable, the stuff LOOKS pretty amazing. What do you guys think?

Shoot and edit your swede on your iPhone 3GS

by brodiemashOct 28th, 2009Leave a Comment

With Swede Fest 4 right around the corner, the most common gripe I get from people about creating a swede is “Well, I don’t have a camera or a way to edit my entry.” Well, if you have an iPhone 3GS, that’s all you need to get started! I read about this iPhone application over at Slash Film and thought “Here’s the solution for those people.” Of course, this means you have to own the newest iPhone but those things are so prevalent nowadays, try throwing a MacBook in a room and NOT hitting a 3GS owner.  Now this isn’t an advertisement or endorsement of this product as I’m not cool enough to own one of the newer iPhone models (yes, I know I’m contradicting my previous statement but I just haven’t got around to it quite yet) and therefore never used it but I thought how much easier it’s getting to create videos right on your phone with no need for external devices for editing or adding titles. The ReelDirector app is available here on the iTunes App Store for around $7.99 so remember, there’s still plenty of time (actually, one week from today is the deadline) for you to get that Swede Fest entry in :)

Dem Trailers: Green Zone

by brodiemashOct 27th, 2009Comments (3)

Paul Greengrass has had a pretty awesome track record and his latest here looks like familiar. Matt Damon might be channeling a little of his Jason Bourne character but from what I’ve read, this isn’t what the film is about at all. Instead of an action-thriller, Green Zone is more of a political thriller and the trailer seems to be a bit misleading, even down to the urban music towards the end (can anyone identify that song?). Having been pushed back already, sentiments seem to be that the studio isn’t very happy with the film. I guess only time will tell. What do you guys think of the trailer?

The new A-Team revealed

ATEAM_REV_small

The old A-Team is dead. Make room for the new A-Team! I gotta say, this group pic of the updated team looks pretty damn cool. Liam Neeson as “Hannibal” is dead on, The Hangover guy fits the part of “Faceman” and the one everyone was fearing wouldn’t work: B.A. Baracus. I gotta say, Rampage Jackson definitely looks the part. I guess we’ll have to wait until next summer to see if the badassness translates on screen, though. I just hope dude from District 9, who plays “Howling Mad” Murdock, gets to don the mech suit at the end of this one as well. Check out the full picture after the jump and let us know what you think of the revised team in the comments!

Bryan’s top 5 movies of 2009 (so far)

by BryanOct 26th, 2009Comments (3)

5. Moon
I had been greatly anticipating this film and it did not disappoint. It’s the feature film debut of director Duncan Jones. This space-thriller-thinker features an amazing performance from Sam Rockwell (my Oscar-sense is tingling), and some nice editing and CG to boot (for an indie).

4. Inglorious Basterds
I’m no Tarantino fan boy by any means, but I found this movie incredibly entertaining. Had discussions with a lot of folks who felt “meh” about it for a variety of reasons (didn’t live up to the hype, didn’t have enough of this or that). But I was enthralled by every minute of it; the performances, the cinematography, yes, even the pacing. Well done, QT. Now please don’t make Kill Bill 3.

Dem Trailers: Collapse

by brodiemashOct 26th, 2009Leave a Comment

November will bring us 2012, a sci-fi movie that deals with the destruction of our planet as we know it. Sure, it’s kinda worrisome that our wonderful state of California might slip into the ocean and Firebaugh ends up a sleepy seaside town all of a sudden. But we can come out of that film and know that it’s all fantasy (right?). But there’s something about just even watching this trailer and having a sinking feeling about how I will not be able to afford to put gas in my car sometime in the near future and everything around me will cease to operate at a normal status. But that’s the point, right? Anyways, crackpot or prophet, this documentary based around Michael Ruppert will at least get the old noodle a gush of blood and make you stop and think for a minute.

brodiemash’s top 5 films of 2009 (so far)

by brodiemashOct 23rd, 2009Comments (5)

5. Observe & Report
This was one of the darkest films I’ve ever seen and it brought me nothing but joy to be in the theater and see the faces of people around me react as it seemed that they were expecting a traditional Seth Rogen comedy. This wasn’t it. Not even close. Instead we took a trip down the most putrid road of the character’s psyche and what a ride it was. And the ending made me scream in joyful glee, literally. Man, this film was HELLA slept on!

4. (500) Days Of Summer
It kinda seems like I’m always on the lookout for that quirky romantic film that uplifts, as with last year’s The Wackness and this year I got Marc Webb’s film. The soundtrack, the non-linear storytelling and even the acting was pretty much on point. Also, this was the film that introduced mt to the awesome Regina Spektor so that’s gotta count for something, right?
