Fresno Foto Friday #7

by BryanMay 30th, 2009Comments (2)

Every Friday I’ll post a Fresno pic that I find interesting for any number of reasons
RevFest

OK, it’s Saturday. My bad. But it gave me a chance to snap some photos at today’s Rev Fest on the Fulton Mall. And because I’m a day late, I’ll throw in two photos. Check out the surprisingly entertaining Police motorcycle skills competition going on at the kidney-shaped parking lot in front of the Crest Theater. (click ‘em to view full size)

Pixar releases Toy Story 3 teaser trailer

by brodiemashMay 29th, 2009Comment (1)

I loves me some Pixar and very much look forward to checking out Up this weekend. And if you plan on watching the film as well, this little teaser for Toy Story 3 will be attached to the print. I’m honestly waiting for the day that Pixar releases a total dud of a film. There’s no way that anyone’s track record can remain as pristine as these guys’ & maybe Toy Story 3 will be the one. But somehow I think I’m more likely to eat my entire weight in brussel sprouts before that happens.

Dem Trailers: The Goods-Live Hard, Sell Hard

For some reason this Jeremy Piven act seems familiar but he does it so well, it’s all good. Although the sell point of “From the guys behind Step Brothers & Talladega Nights doesn’t give much credance to the film, it looks pretty damn funny to me. Having had some friends who have done the whole car salesman thing in the past, I’ve heard some pretty funny stories. Plus it’s got the asian doctor from Knocked Up and that guy is ALWAYS good for a few laughs. Hate crimes, breast feeding old men, exploding paint gags… yeah, pretty sold at this point. But check out the red band trailer up there (as usual: red band means NSFW) and let us know what you think.

Hey, have you ever seen…In Bruges?

Harry:

An Uzi? I’m not from South Central Los Angeles. I didn’t come here to shoot twenty black ten year olds in a drive-by. I want a normal gun for a normal person.

The hardest part of this article was picking just one quote from what is an amazingly, amazingly funny and well-written script.  I haven’t seen Milk yet (it’s in the queue) but it better make Shakespeare look like a retarded child on methamphetamine drawing pictures on mommy’s fridge with “cat crayons” from the litterbox to have ganked the Oscar from this flick. It’s really, really well done. Read more…

Random Goodness: The world’s most amazing stuntman’s demo reel

by brodiemashMay 28th, 2009Comment (1)

Wow. Man, I’ve seen Tony Jaa do some crazy stuff. Jackie Chan, Ray Parks, Jet Li: all these guys are pretty amazing in their own league and can pull of some amazing feats death-defying acts. But this guy, Damien Walters, pulls off some stuff in this video that made my jaw hit the floor. Since it seems like parkour is the latest craze in Hollywood action movies, I’m pretty sure this guy’s demo reel will definitely turn some heads. So before we see this guy in the next martial arts film, check out his impressive moves. Man, I need to get in shape just so I can pull some of these moves off. AMAZING! [via Videogum]

Random Goodness: Yo Teach!

Judd Apatow’s Funny People is coming out very soon and with it comes some pretty clever viral marketing. Yo Teach! is a fake NBC sitcom starring Mark Taylor Jackson (aka Jason Schartzman to you & I) as Mr. Bradford and the video up there is a behind-the scenes look at the making of the show. As an added bonus, NBC is hosting an authentic looking web site and includes clips from the show and some bonus materials. How this show hasn’t already been green lit is beyond me. Oh, and if you try to buy the Season 1 DVD on the web site, it’s currently sold out. Can’t wait for it to come back in stock! If it ain’t your cup o’ tea, at least now you can tell people who the greatest rapper of all time is.

Dem Reviews: Drag Me To Hell

by brodiemashMay 27th, 2009Comment (1)

drag-me-to-hell-20090106061124590_640wLet me start off by saying that I’m not the biggest Sam Raimi fan. Hmmm, that kinda comes off like me not enjoying his work and nothing could be further from the truth: Army Of Darkness, Evil DeadSpider-Man 2 (WTF happened with the third installment is beyond me) are all films that I hold in high esteem. But when I hear about a director working on his next project, Sam Raimi’s name never really gets picked up on my radar. Well after watching Drag Me To Hell, that’s probably gonna change. Read more…

Dem Trailers: ‘77

by brodiemashMay 26th, 2009Comments (2)

A coming of age story about the Star Wars phenomenon, this film has been sitting around for a while now, but it seems like it might finally be getting some mainstream love. Directed by Patrick Read Johnson and previously titled 5-25-77 (the actual release date of the classic sci-fi film), the film premiered last October on the film festival circuit. No distributor has picked it up yet, but something tells me it won’t be too long. Maybe a Fresno Filmworks future pick? I vote “Yes, Please!” What do you guys think?

Compliance! Flight Of The Navigator gets a reboot from Disney

flight-of-the-navigator
Since Dinsey started remaking movies from the past, I always wondering if they’d get around to redoing one of my all time Disney favorites in Flight Of The Navigator. Well, Slash Film has confirmed that indeed that travesty will be taking place. Reading the article over there, the bad news news is that the script is being written by Wild Hogs scribe Brad Copeland. Ugh, that can’t be good. Sure, dude’s got some work in for Arrested Development & My Name Is Earl but Wild Hogs, really?! Fuck’s sake this could turn out really, really bad. They better get Paul Reubens to return as the voice at the very least. And throw Sarah Jessica Parker in there as well, for old time’s sake! What do you guys think? Theses remakes are gonna happen so which ones would you like to see be redone?

Modern Warfare 2 trailer drops; my wallet prepares to lose weight

by brodiemashMay 25th, 2009Comment (1)

I don’t play as many video games as I used to, I’m ashamed to admit. The last time I really got into a game was probably the original Modern Warfare (as you might have noticed, they’ve decided to drop the Call Of Duty moniker entirely) and that sucked up so much of my time it was scary. Halo was cool, but it was nothing compared to the amount of time I spent playing CoD online. Loved it! So as of right now, I’m going to try my best to clear my schedule so come Nov. 11th when the game is released, I can once again turn into a couch bum and veg out blasting foos on the wonderful internet cause if this trailer is any indication, I won’t be doing much else come Winter 2009.

Random Goodness: The Fast & The Furious in five seconds

by brodiemashMay 23rd, 2009Comments (4)

A little longer than five seconds, but well worth your time. If you haven’t seen the film, be ready to join us for a Dumb Drum Gettogether next month when the film will be part of the Flashback Features. But for now, I will be needing NOS all weekend long now. Thanks a grip, internet. I owe you one!
